Vision
The Cynthia Spooner Hankes Cancer Resource Center (CSH-CRC) will arm cancer patients and their families with knowledge and tools so they can concentrate on living.
Mission
To make available to cancer patients and their families information on their diagnosis and treatment (via free brochures, internet access and assistance, and books available for preview) and to provide them with avenues to pursue services that are available to them (supplemental funding, free web site construction, children's services, support groups, etc.)
The CSH-CRC opened December 2006 and is named in memory of Cindi Hankes. Cindi's Library is located at the Cancer Center of East Alabama Medical Center with books, brochures, two computers with internet access and printers, and chairs for people to use while reading or doing research. An area called "Lisa's Corner" has been established in memory of Lisa Tankersly to hold books related to children.
