Biography

Cynthia Spooner Hankes (Cindi) passed away on Thursday, June 17, after battling Multiple Myeloma. Her most cherished role was that of wife and mother. At the time of her death, Cindi was survived by her husband, Joe, and children, Gabriel Wade Hankes (Gabe) and Mary Malloy (Mallie) Hankes. Cindi's parents are Joe and June Spooner and parents-in-law are Gerald and Carol Hankes, all of Auburn.
Cindi grew up in Auburn and spent most of her life there. Cindi was a geotechnical engineer, most recently as Senior Engineer at GEC. She held a BS, Civil Engineering and BS, Building Science from Auburn University and was a registered professional engineer. Cindi was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She served as treasurer of the Respect Life committee and founded the Jack Gentle Trust Fund for the Holy Innocents. She was a member of St. Michael's Long Range Planning Committee, the Catholic Women's Association, and the National Right to Life Organization.
Cindi had a dry wit and a caring heart. She was extremely creative and thoughtful. She is missed daily by her family and it is our hope that this library will bring some comfort and help to you as you battle cancer.
